Manuscript Review Guidelines and Journal Publication Regulations
- Article 1 [Submission of Manuscripts]
- The Editor-in-Chief receives manuscripts through JAMS and, upon submission, prepares an editorial ledger that allows for post-management of the contributor¡¯s personal information, manuscript title, and review status. A ¡°Manuscript Receipt Certificate¡± is issued to the contributor via JAMS.
- Article 2 [Selection of Manuscripts for Publication]
- Priority shall be given to papers related to James Joyce and Ireland. Papers concerning Virginia Woolf, a prominent modernist writer and contemporary of Joyce, may also be considered for publication. In addition, papers on authors belonging to a similar literary lineage may be submitted, provided that they offer meaningful contributions to the field of Joyce studies.
Article 3 [Review Procedure]
(1) The manuscript will be reviewed in the order it is received.
(2) The Editorial Committee shall, via JAMS, forward the manuscript-after removing all contributor-related information-to three reviewers for evaluation.
(3) Upon completing their review, each reviewer shall prepare a review report in accordance with the prescribed method and format, and submit it to the Editor-in-Chief through JAMS.
(4) If at least two out of the three reviewers agree to publication, the manuscript shall be considered as having passed the review. However, if two reviewers recommend publication and one reviewer recommends rejection, the final decision regarding publication shall be made by the Editorial Board.
Article 4 [Review Method]
Manuscripts shall be reviewed through a dual process: formal requirements review and content review.
(1) The formal requirements review assesses whether the manuscript complies with the formatting guidelines specified in the society¡¯s ¡°Manuscript Preparation and Submission Regulations.¡±
(2) The content review evaluates the manuscript based on the following ten criteria: ¨ç Consistency of argument development ¨è Appropriateness of authentication ¨é Accuracy of citations ¨ê Suitability of abstract ¨ë Originality of topic ¨ì Timeliness of topic ¨í Specificity of problem awareness ¨î Creativity of research methodology ¨ï Completeness of the manuscript ¨ð Academic contribution. Based on these criteria, the manuscript shall be rated as: Accept, Accept with Revisions, Revise and Resubmit, or Reject.
Article 5 [Notification of Publication Decision]
The contributor shall be notified of the publication decision within 30 days of manuscript submission.
Article 6 [Issuance of Certificate of Scheduled Publication]
For manuscripts accepted for publication, a Certificate of Scheduled Publication shall be issued upon the contributor¡¯s request.
Article 7 [Journal Publication]
(1) The journal is published twice a year. Manuscript submission deadlines are May 20 for the summer issue and November 20 for the winter issue.
(2) The summer issue of the journal is published on June 30, and the winter issue is published on December 31.
Article 8 [Copyright Ownership]
The copyright of papers published in the society¡¯s journal belongs to the James Joyce Society of Korea. Therefore, reproduction of the whole or part of the paper requires prior approval from the society.
Article 9 [Unspecified Matters]
Any matters not explicitly stated in these regulations shall be determined according to the general practices of other academic societies in Korea and the deliberation of the Editorial Committee.
