<p><strong>Dear Honorable Joycean Scholars,</strong></p><strong></strong> <p><br>The James Joyce Society of Korea(JJSK) is holding the 9 th International James Joyce <br>Conference with the title, “Joyce Studies in East Asia: Perspectives and Prospects,” <br>on-line via zoom on June 19th, this year.</p> <p><br>It is a great pleasure and honor for us to begin the conference with a congratulatory <br>message from Mr. Julian Clare, the Irish Ambassador to Korea, to whom we extend our <br>hearty gratitude and appreciation. We are also happy to be able to invite seven great <br>East Asian Joycean scholars as main speakers, anticipating their great presentations. </p> <p>Uniquely, in this conference, instead of inviting a keynote speaker, we will have the <br>representatives introduce the present research conditions on James Joyce in China, <br>Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. In addition, instead of designating official discussants, we will <br>have a free discussion on all the topics presented during the conference.<br> <br>Hopefully, this conference will be a great experience for us all to share and exchange <br>hearty fellowship and plenty of academic ideas despite its small, short, and brief size.<br> Extending our hearty gratitude to all the participants in this conference, we wish that <br>all of us could overcome this unprecedented disaster of COVID-19 pandemic in the near <br>future and meet face-to-face in a physical building with the benefits of more time and <br>space.
