The 10th International James Joyce Conference in Korea
We are inviting you to JJSK 2023 International James Joyce Conference. Since its first conference in 2002, this year is its tenth occasion to which it has been held every two years during the last twenty-one years. JJSK International James Joyce Conference has been a cross-cultural site in which scholarly queries are made by a variety of East-Asian perspectives. There has been such as Yen Yen Hsiao¡¯s ¡°Global/Local Gendered History¡± (the third, 2008), Sheldon Brivic ¡®s ¡°Joyce and Cha`s Dictee¡± (the fifth, 2012), Eishiro Ito¡¯s ¡°Joyce and Buddhism¡± (the sixth, 2015), Kun-liang Chuang¡¯s ¡°(Un)translatability and Aesthetic Equivalence¡± (the eighth , 2019), Liu Yan¡¯s ¡°Oriental Other¡± (the nineth, 2021), and so forth.
We are holding its tenth occasion, the theme of which is ¡°Joyce, Postnationalism and Beyond.¡± This Conference will be made to be a deliberation in which antinomies, or schizophrenic symptoms, inherent in any sort of schism. A schism evidently necessitates the discriminatory/dividing bar (/) of the binary opposition in identity signification underlying much of racial, gender, or religious discourse, the bar preventing the possibilities of non-identity beyond the bar.
This Conference is, yet, not circumscribed to such a thematical issue. There are some other issues to be discussed like cultural translatability, Irish cultures, and East-Asianism in Joyce.
We are inviting all of you to JJSK 2023 International James Joyce Conference in which Joyce scholars and researchers from China, Japan, Korea, and Ireland will make this occasion a public presentation of their on-going research and scholarly interest.
